HwpXML Package (HwpX) is a file format developed by Hancom for its word processing software, Hancom Office Hwp. It is the successor to the older HWP format and is based on the Open XML standard, similar in concept to Microsoft's DOCX or Apple's Pages format. HWPX files are essentially ZIP archives containing XML files that define the document structure, content, styles, metadata, and embedded objects. This structure allows for better interoperability, easier parsing, and improved data integrity compared to older binary formats. HWPX is the default format for newer versions of Hancom Office Hwp, particularly popular in South Korea and other regions where Hancom software is widely used. It supports complex formatting, tables, images, and advanced document features typical of modern word processors.
