An FLP file is a project file created by FL Studio, a popular digital audio workstation (DAW) formerly known as FruityLoops. This file format does not contain actual audio data like a WAV or MP3 file; instead, it stores all the instructions, settings, arrangements, automation data, plugin configurations, and references to external sample files and VST instruments used within a specific music production project. When you open an FLP file, FL Studio reads these parameters and reconstructs the session, allowing producers to continue editing, mixing, and arranging their tracks. Because the file only contains project metadata and references, moving an FLP file to another computer often requires also transferring the associated audio samples and ensuring that all third-party virtual instruments and plugins used in the project are installed on the destination machine.
