A DRP file is the primary project file format used by Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve, a professional software application for video editing, color correction, visual effects, and audio post-production. This file does not actually contain the raw video, audio, or image media assets themselves; instead, it acts as a container holding all the project metadata, timeline structures, editing decisions, clip arrangements, color grading nodes, transition settings, and plugin configurations. When a user creates a project in DaVinci Resolve, saves it locally, or exports it for sharing, it is stored in the DRP format. It allows editors to easily backup their work, collaborate, and transfer complex timelines between different workstations. To fully open and view a DRP file, users must also have access to the original source media files referenced within the project, as the file only stores the pathing and instructions for how those assets are edited together.
